Dixie Hall Passes

From Bluegrass Today

Dixie HallDixie Hall, life and songwriting partner to Tom T. Hall, and a major figure in the music industry of Nashville, died last Friday night (Jan 16, 2015) at her home. She was 80 years old.

Miss Dixie, as she was known to family and friends, had been ill this past year, and had limited her professional activities. She was always a friend to young bluegrass artists, providing food and shelter when needed, and encouragement in large doses without fail.

In her life, she had written several hundred songs, many of them recorded in bluegrass. Hall also spent many years as a music journalist, and running her and Tom T.’s label, Blue Circle Records.
